The Tuscan Retreat gives violinists and violists the opportunity to participate in an intensive week of studying String Pedagogy with Mimi Zweig and experiencing sonata coaching/playing with Jeannette Koekkoek. This all takes place in a medieval castello in the rolling hills of Tuscany - Castello di Cacciano - on a mountain top one hour south of Florence.
Schedule
Mornings 9 to 1 – Teaching the Violin to Children
1:30 to 4:30 - Lunch and Siesta
4:30 to 8 – Sonata coaching/playing/practicing
8:30 – Dinner and activities
Violist Atar Arad and Jeannette Koekkoek will perform a recital during the session.

Enrollment is limited to 11 participants, and will be accepted in order of application.
Accommodations
The Castello (main house) houses 11 people. There are 4 rooms with two single beds and 3 rooms with double beds for couples.
Note: Participants should expect to have a roommate.
There is a large swimming pool in the olive grove near the Castello.
All meals are included. Breakfast and lunch will be available in Cacciano. Dinner (authentic Italian cuisine) will be served in a nearby restaurant.
Cacciano has many walking trails in the surrounding area. For those who like shopping and sight-seeing, Arezzo, Siena, and Florence are close by and accessible either by train or car.
Participants will need a car. There is no public transportation close by. Taxi service is available from the Arezzo train station.
