DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS FLORENCE (=FIRENZE) to CACCIANO
From Florence, follow signs to Autostrada A-1 (Milano-Roma), in the direction of Rome. If you are coming from the direction Bologna, you are already on the A-1.
Once on A-1 keep going direction ‘ROMA’ until exit ‘AREZZO’, which is about a one-hour drive from ‘Firenze Nord’. Please drive carefully, also because of accident immune drivers (carry a little cross or rosary on your rearview mirror, and you qualify too). Heavy truck traffic.
Immediately after exiting tollbooth ‘AREZZO’, turn right direction CIVITELLA - (in Valdichiana or Della Chiana).
Follow signs Civitella closely for about 9 km. You are on the SP21. You will perceive the striking view of Civitella on your left, many km before you reach the turnoff proper to Civitella (sharply to the left and up. DO NOTGO THERE now!
Continue on main road, which turns into SP 18 immediately after the Civitella turnoff. Go slow; you enter into a number of true hairpin curves. You have only about 5 km more to go. Start watching the road signs that indicate SP 18 and KM postings.
For you comfort, at about km 4 you pass a restaurant complex on the left: Ristorante-Pizzeria dei Laghi
At road sign ‘KM 5’, GO IN FIRST GEAR. GO SLOW!!! Just totally ignore any pseudo Michael Schumacher or Mario Andretti hanging on your tail
You enter immediately into a curve. At the left emerges a big Tuscan farmhouse. Right in front of he house, you do not see it yet, is the sign CACCIANO, pointing towards the right.
Turn sharp right here towards Cacciano, uphill, about 1.3 km. Drive slow, mostly in first or second gear. The road turns into a gravel road after just 30 meters of asphalt. Do not take the turns too narrowly, if not your wheels will slip. Turn left into Cacciano proper, sign ‘loc. Cacciano,’ an park in front of the cypress trees in the bent.
Yell! (Maybe Dido and Tosca and certainly Davide, alias Davidoff, and Duca, will bark back).
